Dear Girls
I wanted to write and say thank you for the lovely
bunnies.. we really spoil them. They spend the day
in their little bunny condo outside or in a covered
xpen on grass if its warm. In the evening i bring
them into the barn they have a box stall with
shavings and a house filled with straw. I didn't
realize that rabbits play - they run and jump etc..
its quite funny to see. I spend time with them daily
as i am in the barn all day. Thank you again for
your kindness. I am sending along pictures and if
you would like you can also see them on our website.

These girls were
adopted last Friday April 7th. The ladies in
the adoption center asked me to send a couple of
pictures
of them in their new
home so here they are. I would appreciate it if
you could pass these along to them.
They are both doing
great. Of course Nana already thinks she owns
the place and has made herself quite
comfortable.
Potsi is still a
little nrevous but is really starting to gain
confidence and is coming around. She loves her
toys.
They had their first
Vet visit for their rabies shot and check up
everything is fine. Nana could stand to lose a
little weight
so we're working on
that.
Potsi still has
an eye infection but it is getting better and
she takes her ointment with out any problem.
Of course she knows
there are treats afterward which I'm sure helps.
Thanks again for all
your help, and be assured that they are in good
hands.
Sincerely,
Ron & Brenda Smith.

Dear Jennifer:
Just a quick note to say thank you for assisting
with the adoption of Sasha. She has been with me for
3 days now and she has already been making friends,
chasing cats and settling in as the new unofficial
"matriarch" of the family. The cats are not very
impressed with her, but fortunately, their own dog
"experience" has taught them to be somewhat cautious
and not be too freaked out by Sasha's desire to ummm....chase
them. The larger cat, Gizmo, stood his ground with
her on Saturday evening. Instead of running he
turned around, arched his back and spit at her.
Sasha stopped dead in her tracks...as if to say;
"What the??? How the ????". I sincerely believe that
in time and with lots of guidance, Sasha will learn
to tolerate her feline siblings. I don't get the
sense she will ever like them, much like Rollie. She
will learn to accept their presence. On a much
brighter note, Sasha found the basket which
contained all of Rollie's toys and she simply helped
herself. She was like a kid in a candy store!!!
Every few minutes she would go back to the basket to
discover some other "hidden" treasure..a ball, a
stuffed animal, a kong, etc.. She has claimed the
dog beds as hers. The cats "inherited" them after
Rollie passed away, but now Sasha has simply taken
them over. She is also quite the athlete. Early
Saturday am, she was in the field running and
chasing a ball, when another dog also named Sasha,
came along to make friends(show off is more like it
and talk about NO manners). The owner, said that his
dog was very fast and would probably "steal" the
ball from my Sasha (he was apologizing for his dog
in advance)...so I threw the ball and it looked as
though the imposter Sasha would indeed outrun my
girl and take off. Well, my girly girl would have
none of it...just as this "breedy" Weimaraner was
about to catch the ball, my girl literally flew off
the ground and snatched the ball mid-air. I don't
know who was more shocked, me, the weimaraner or the
imposter's owner. I simply sniffed...and said, well
look at that!!!! Later on Saturday, we went to
Petsmart so that Sasha could choose a few toys for
herself. I'm happy to say she picked out two pink
balls, one bone and unfortunately helped herself to
some dog biscuits...the Pet Smart folks loved her.
They made quite the fuss and she lapped it all up...
On Easter Sunday, Sasha was introduced to the
extended family and spent hours playing with about 7
kids. She was exhausted!!! She slept like a log last
night. So far, she is settling in with my dad, while
I'm at the office and apparently, she is doing just
fine there. She will be running errands with my dad,
going to the park and napping....
Sasha will be a busy, busy girl and I suspect very
popular.
We'll drop by the SPCA in a few weeks, and let you
know how the "cat"situation is progressing. Thank
you again for all your help.
Sincerely
Brenda and Sasha |

Attached are some pics of Einstein (not his other
personality "Einsteen"....the possessed version
which comes to the surface usually daily).
He has been surprisingly not too bad. He has
taken to the crate quite well. We have only had him
in it a couple of times and for no more than a
couple of hours. He sleeps on his new comfy doggy
bed outside of our bedroom all night quietly and
without any problems.
He is great on the lead during walks and I have
him healing while we walk. I have him trained to
sit at the street corners, and he is peeing and
pooping on command.
I'm not sure if he was already taught to roll
over, but if not he learned it in about 10 attempts.
He was shaking paws with the left, so I taught him
to use the right instead.
We took him to my parents place near Owen Sound on
the weekend and let him run off leash (I was a
little nervous taking the lead off) in their back
acreage. He took to the water like he had lived his
entire life there. Fetching sticks and swimming
like a seal. A farmer walked out of the woods at
one point when he was loose with a big black lab and
a german shepard. I wasn't there, but Patricia
called him back to her with no incident. He didn't
run after them or anything. I was sooo surprised
that he didn't chase after them.
He did have a bad Saturday night up there, as
every little noise set him off, and he was finding
things like golf gloves and towels that my parents
didn't even know existed. It was a long night for
us, but he has been great back at home the last two
nights.
Overall, he has been great to this point. I am
sure we will have good days and bad days, but I
think in the long run he is going to be a great
friend for both of us. We have been working
diligently on the "NILIF" training to break his
initial and occasional dominance issues, and he is
now following up the stairs and through doors. A
couple good signs that he sees us as the leaders.
We are both happy that we took the chance on him.
He has a fun personality,... mischievous, but fun.
I truly think that he is still working through his
"puppy stage" and that with love, exercise, games,
training, and patience he will be a great dog.
Perhaps his first two families just didn't give him
the chance or time he needed? (I may write you in a
couple weeks saying differently, but I doubt it. ha
ha)
I'll keep you posted on his progress. Thanks
again for all of your help.

Hi, I wanted to let you know how Jessie now
Shyla is doing. She is an absolute
doll, smart doesn't begin to describe her.
Of course the others were iffy in the
beginning but have accepted her with no
complaints. She doesn't bark, doesn't
leave the yard when left alone for a bit,
sits on the patio when outside alone for
longer periods. Learned her new name the
same day she arrived, comes immediately when
called.
I've taken her to the lake and she
LOVES the water, she is such a ham. She'll
run through puddles in the corral to stir up
some bubbles then attack them. I've even
taken her riding and she stays beside the
horse not behind like my other 2. You have
got to see her playing with the Pyr, he's
120lbs and she's maybe 30lbs now...her hole
head fits in his mouth when they go at it,
FUNNY. But the best is that she has brought
back some life in the ill fated one. She has
been giving him the necessary exercise to
keep his back end strong, I haven't seen
him play like that in years.
We are so glad she came into our lives,
even my mom (who is TERRIFIED by big dogs)
adores her. Dad said if all dogs were like
her they wouldn't think twice about getting
one. I always said I'd never get a puppy
again after my male grew up, he was one of
the stupidest dogs EVER. So very glad I
changed my mind. Thanks again.

Hi Jennifer,
I would like to
thank You VERY much for allowing me to adopt a
beautiful, intelligent & obedient dog as
Dakota(Cola). She's amazing!!!!! You were
certainly correct with the trainning aspect.
This dog is sooooo smart. I look forward to
living with one of the BEST canines alive.
Granted, I lucked
out but, but You're guidelines & rules are well
worth it & bebeficial to ANY responsible pet
owner. You're guidance & suggestions were
welcome & my PLEASURE to comply with.
Dakota has probably
been introduced to over 100 people over this
weekend. I take her where ever I go.
Rest assurred that I
LOVE her & that you will never see her @ the
OSPCA again, except maybe for a visit. I can't
fathom why anyone would abondon such an amazing
dog.
I never knew much
about the way you're system operates. I have
never seen a group of volunteers & staff so
dedicated to the well being of anything. These
people truly LOVE animals. As mentioned
before, your guidelines are amazing, anyone NOT
wanting to spend the time, effort or money
SHOULD NOT be a pet owner.
Back in the 80's, I
had made some charitable donations, times were
really good then & I was young & spent money
like a kid in a candy store, one of them was the
OPSCA, but that lifestlye was given up. Right
now, I donate to the MS society, small but
often, but would love to assist with your
shelter & your cause. Please let me know what I
can do.
I know this is long
winded but I am just overwhelmed with your cause
and ny luck!
Thanks Steve

Hello everyone at the
Newmarket SPCA.
I just wanted to drop you a quick line to update you
on one of your friends that we graciously adopted
from you over a month ago.
His name leaving the shelter was "King" .... now "
King Kensington", can be seen in the attached
picture basking in the sunlight in his favorite spot
on a comfy pillow in the window.
He's such a happy & friendly cat. Thank you once
again for giving us this small peice of sunshine.
You guys are awesome for what you do.
Your friends,

Hi Adrienne,
Thought you and the
staff would like to see pictures of Connor
McLaughlin (previously known as Roman) in his
environment. Connor is a great addition to our
family, and is becoming more comfortable with
his surroundings. First day home, he proceeded
marked his territory in our bedroom.
About the fourth day
home, we had him explore and run about on his
property. He loves it, however the only problem
is (like kids) getting him back into the house
when he still wants to play.
He does quite well
until the my husband starts the riding mower or
chainsaw. He'll then hide under beds or find my
lap for security. I'm sure over time he will
become accustom to different sounds inside and
outside the home.
He presents quite
well around other people but is also somewhat
shy and reserved. Anyone being introduced
must be in a kneeling position or at his
standing level for initial meeting.
He pretends not to
know anything about dog hairs on the couch, and
will project a certain look on his face that
says ...what is that crazy woman talking about.
My husband now that I think about it has the
same look on his face, when asked if the dog has
been on the couch.
At his June 24th
appointment at the Vet (Goldenvale), he received
the following vaccinations for:
Bordetella; Leptospirosis
4 - with a booster in 3-4 weeks; and Rabies
1 Fecal checked; 1
Setinel; 12 Pyr-A-Pam regular tablets; and
tablets for round worms. He was stated in good
general health, and a pleasant lovable dog.
Connor will continue
to be loved and well cared for.
THANK YOU ALL for
working with him, and for all the excellent work
and care you provide for animals in your care.

Here’s my adoption from December 2005. He’s the
Siamese Flame point Mix known as Ulysses at the
Centre from last December. We call him Coco.
He loves his spring toys the most and is very
vocal, but a little skittish. As you can see
he’s a big cat already. I’m enjoying him and
he’s very content with me
Rossanna
