“Thank you”

To all of our Yard Sale Volunteers and Donors.  We raised approximately $4700 as of the end of the weekend.  This is an $800 increase over the same time last year.  I’d also like to thank Cubeit.ca for the donating the storage bin.  It made the weekend much easier for us all.

We are pleased to announce that the Towns of Aurora and Markham have contracted the Ontario SPCA, York Region Branch to provide Animal Control services to their communities.

As Animal Control agents for the Town, it is our responsibility to enforce the Municipal Animal Control Bylaws.  We patrol all areas of the town Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm and respond to residents complaints during these hours.  Residents who are able, may drop a stray dog or cat off at the shelter at any time during regular shelter hours Monday through Sunday.

Residents can redeem pets from the shelter during regular shelter hours.  Please check with shelter staff to verify fees prior to picking up.  We accept VISA, MasterCard, Debit Card & Cash. NO CHEQUES/NO EXCEPTIONS.

Please Note:

Animal Control for the Towns of Newmarket, East Gwillimbury, Whitchurch-Stouffville and Georgina has advised that they will no longer pick up stray cats from this location.

For this reason, we will no longer be able to accommodate those transfers.  All stray cats from the above locations will need to be taken directly to the Georgina facility at 26819 Civic Center Road, Keswick, Ontario.  Should you have any concerns, please contact your local municipality or the Georgina facility at 1-800-898-8606.

Welcome to the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals “Ontario SPCA”, York Region branch. The Ontario SPCA is a non profit charity fully supported by people like you and does not receive government funding.  With your help the Ontario SPCA has been protecting animals for 134 years.

Animals are subject to cruelty of all forms as many of you have seen depicted in the media. The Ontario SPCA protects and cares for these animals such as cats, dogs, small animals, exotics, livestock, horses, and wildlife.  Through successful local adoption programs these rescued domestic animals are adopted into new homes and given a second chance.

Our focus is to raise public awareness on animal cruelty by increased public knowledge on the vital service the Ontario SPCA provides to our local community.  We are currently seeing a direct impacted on the number of animals in our shelters therefore we need to focus on creating new fundraising initiative and product sourcing to accommodate this growth.

Can you or your company sponsor an event, financially or with your products?  Can you provide a service in kind? Can your company provide the Ontario SPCA with a product at a reduced rate?  Can you help with an item on our wish list?  Do you have time to volunteer at an event, in the shelter, or by providing a specialized skill?  Would you adopt your next family pet from the shelter? If you can answer yes to any of these questions your help towards the Ontario SPCA would be greatly appreciated.

By supporting the Ontario SPCA you will be making the difference in the lives of neglected, abused or unwanted animals that deserve a second chance to live in a loving home.  Everyone can make a difference and it starts by you getting more involved.

Thank you in advance for your support!
